It’s back! The TV2 International LAUGH! Festival returns to Downstage, with a great line up of both international and national acts from May 3 - 19.

The high quality and wide variety of shows in the Downstage season is great, with acts ranging from pure stand-up to more theatrically based performances.

The 4 Noels

They did it to westerns in the 2000 LAUGH!, now this amazing comic trio do it to horror, with a brand new show, DOOMRIDERS. It’s young Frankenstein meets the exorcist ‘4 Noels’ style. Exclusive to Downstage – don’t miss ex-pats John, Jesse and James in this ‘apocalyptic gothic horror musical’.

Irish comedian Michael Smiley returns to NZ after 2 years with his raucous Belfast take on life’s experiences. More theatre than stand-up, ‘The Parting Glass’ uses the setting of an Irish wake to tell an every day tale of drunkenness, dancing and disintegration.

LAUGH! Festival favourite, Brendhan Lovegrove, teams up with Ice TV’s Jon Bridges, winner of the NZTV Best Performance in a Comedy Entertainment Programme 2000. Witness Bridges’ much awaited return to the world of standup and the mad comic stylings of Brendhan Lovegrove in their individual half hour shows. 4 nights only!

John Glass, James Elliot and Paul Ego in Gutsfull
3 – 4 May at 8.30pm

John, James and Paul have had a ‘Gutsfull’! 13 items in the 12 or less grocery aisle, boy bands who are 12 with a combined IQ of 13, and 13 year old who wear their pants 12 feet below their waist. They’ve had it…and you need to hear about it….

Downstage will also hold the LATE LAUGHS! every Friday and Saturday at 11pm during the festival. Join us for over an hour of hilarity as a stellar array of comedians make you LAUGH!
