Singer/songwriter Stan Malcolm has just released his debut CD "Fall into the light", a project which has been a labour of love for the last 18 months. Originally from the South Island, Stan came to Auckland a number of years ago, and simply never went back. Using an eclectic acoustic guitar style, and with influences ranging from Ray Charles & George Michael to Dave Dobbyn & John Hiatt, Stan's passionate songwriting and soulful vocal voice have finally come out of the shadows.

These songs might never have been born, had it not been for a chance purchase of a guitar from a friend four years ago.."I had left music completely for a number of years, and then a mate of mine who was leaving the country, needed to sell his guitar. I reluctantly bought it thinking "what the hell am I going to do with this", strummed a few chords and during chaotic times, wrote songs."

After a year of extensive live performances "Fall into the light" was recorded & mixed at Scoop de Loop studios in Auckland, by Neil Hannan. The album's 9 tracks (totalling 42 minutes) blend the soul sounds of Stan Malcolm and his melodic guitar over a canvas of acoustic rhythms. Using some of New Zealand's finest musicians, each song tells it's own journey, the result of many hours of practice, writing, recording and 30 years of living & observation.

From the "feel-good grove" of the opening track "Turn of the tide", to the reflective "not still with me now" at the end, "Fall into the light" is the perfect album to cruise with on a winter night, or to chill out to on a Sunday afternoon. Now available on CD @ $25.00 each - cheques payable to Stan Malcolm, P O Box 106-411, Auckland Downtown 1030
