Vela: Seconda Regata Della Lvc/Lvc Second Race

Auckalnd, 4th October 2002 ­ After the past too windy three days of the Louis Vuitton Cup finally today ³TIM Mascalzone Latino ITA72² and the other ight challenger could set the sails for the second scheduled race.

The all-italian team leade by Vincenzo Onorato and helmsman Paolo Cian left on time the base in Halsey Street in a a cold sunny day. On the race course a southwesterly wind up to 15/16 knots blew since the start of the race at 12.20:

Paolo Cian and the team racing with the TIM colours could get the right side of the starting line crossing exactly on the same time.Since the beginning of the first windward leg it was clear that the race woul have been very demandig due to the shifty wind:

As a matter of fact ³TIM Mascalzone Latino ITA72² suffered from many shfts that allow ³Oracle BMW Racing² to get the advantage that would have taken since the finishing line.

When back to the base after the race Paolo Cian said:²We¹re very happy regarding the work we did in the past three days and we could have more interesting result: We have been faster on running legs and we could gain the position we wanted to get at start².

Tomorrow ³TIM Mascalzone Latino ITA72² will be racing with the ³Swiss-Kiwi² team of ³Alinghi²: all the fans will see the race in Italy at 02.45am aired by RAI ³ as the ³Race of the Day²

Mascalzone Latino and its team are racing with the TIM colours, the only mobile telephone company entirely Italian and sole sponsor for this all-Italian challenge.
