NZSO sampler disc safe to play
The NZSO today issued a statement saying that their 2003 sampler CD containing highlights from their upcoming season is totally safe to play. It was reported yesterday that someone outside the NZSO organization had accessed a US-based website and managed to download obscene track information which was then displayed when the disc was played on computers using internet-linked software.
The problem was rectified within a few hours of the NZSO's learning about it. Chief Executive, Peter Walls said today 'I want to reassure all our subscribers that all they will get if they put this cd into their stereo systems or computers is beautiful music'. Very few people, in fact, had the misfortune to see the corrupted track titles before the problem was rectified. Nevertheless, Peter Walls adds 'We are very sorry for any offence that might have been caused by this seemingly deliberate act of vandalism'.
The NZSO is continuing to
work with the Police and the Department of Internal Affairs
to identify the culprit.
