Power to the people

Power to the people

Kiwi music fans can make their voices heard at this year's New Zealand Music Awards thanks to an innovative txt competition.

The people can show their support for their favourite artist in the Juice TV People's Choice Award and get the opportunity to win some massive music prizes.

"If you're a music enthusiast, this is a great chance to make your voice heard," says music awards spokesperson Mark Ashbridge.

Viewers need to log on to www.txtstation.com to check out the finalists and then vote for their favourite artist by txting the band's name to the short code number 3979.

The major prize is as big as the winner - his or her height in music CDs and there are 12 Alcatel mobile phones as well as posters included in the booty.

Mr Ashbridge says each entry costs 50 cents and prizes will be delivered.

"If you want refresh your memory, log on to http://www.nzmusicawards.co.nz where you can see video clips and hear the tunes and keep watching Juice TV," Mr Ashbridge says. "This is your chance to show your support for your favourite artist."

Finalists for the txt entry are The Datsuns, Goodshirt, Nesian Mystik, Bic Runga, Anika Moa, Che Fu, Pacifier and Blindspott.
