One hit on the NZ Music Awards web site at http://www.nzmusicawards.co.nz and you'll be able to hear and see the best Kiwi acts as they line up for honours in the 38th year of the awards.

The website is now live following the announcement of the awards finalists and it reflects the awards organisers' drive to bring a new look and a new direction to New Zealand's annual premier music awards.

The site carries news and information about the event including multi-media video clips of some of the finalists.

NZ Music Awards spokesperson Mark Ashbridge says the website is the first to be dedicated to the annual awards.

"This represents just one more step in delivery of a new and fresh awards that match the calibre of the best of Kiwi music. It has been designed specifically for the build up to the awards ceremony and the event itself.

"The big thing for music lovers this year is they can check out video and audio clips of the finalists to see and hear them in action," Ashbridge says.

"Also, we will be uploading information to the site about who has won what as soon as we can after the results are announced. We expect the full results to be on the site on the Thursday (May 1) morning.

"The awards are now in their 38th year and we have been keen to demonstrate the industry's commitment to what is our official awards ceremony.

"We also wanted to have a public forum where we could show New Zealanders the changes and advances we have made this year."

Mr Ashbridge says other reasons for setting up the website include the growth in interest from overseas both from ex-pats and the music industry.

In addition to the results, the web site contains comprehensive information about the New Zealand Music Awards. It includes who the finalists are, news and interviews, video and audio clips, pictures, a short history and sponsors and links.

Members of the music industry can also download a booking form for the awards ceremony and the media are catered for with news releases and a section from where they can download an accreditation form for the awards night.

Ashbridge says fans will already find plenty to read about on the website and should revisit after April 30 when the awards are announced in Auckland.
