Independent music the big winner on the night

Independent music the big winner on the night.

Independent Music NZ (IMNZ) congratulates all the winners in last night's 38th Annual Music Awards. In particular we congratulate the independent artists and labels who took away a staggering 16 of the 20 awards on offer, once again proving that independent and NZ-owned record companies are still the driving force behind New Zealand's music industry.

Independent music accounted for two-thirds of all nominees in the non-technical categories presented at Auckland's Aotea Centre.

In recognising The Datsuns' success overseas, their Outstanding International Achievment award also highlights the unique ability that our independent music producers have to export their talents around the globe.
