NZ Hairstylists Invited to "Find Their Own Vision"
New Zealand's leading hair care company Wella has launched the prestigious photographic awards, The Wella Trend Vision Awards 2003.
Wella Trend Vision is a portfolio of three distinctive trends conceived in Europe by internationally acclaimed stylists and fashion visionaries.
Local hairstylists are invited to find their own vision by capturing and developing one of these three international trends into their individual Trend Vision look for 2003.
Once the look is created entrants submit three photos including a "before shot" of their model, a Wella Trend Vision head and upper body pose and a whole body fashion pose.
Judges will look for interpretation of the trend selected, hair, make up and fashion clothing reflecting the trend and creative styling of the overall photographic image.
The Wella Trend Vision Awards 2003 are divided into two categories, Young Visionary (for stylists 30 years and under) and Master Visionary (for stylists over 30).
The winner of the Young Visionary wins a trip to Berlin to compete against nearly 40 others from around the world for the title of Wella International Trend Vision Award 2003 winner.
The winner in the awards' second category receives a trip for two to New York where they will take part in a seminar at the internationally acclaimed Wella Studio in New York.
The Wella Trend Visions are Energising Antiquity, Eccentric Romantic and Graphic Elegance.
Energising Antiquity is inspired by the sculptures of ancient Greece and the gladiators and warriors - an uninhibited, Amazonian feel. The focus is energy, justice, strength and knowledge and the hair styling is wild, flexible and creative using various hair lengths and sun-kissed shades.
Eccentric Romanic is themed around fantasy versus reality, where boundaries are unclear. Theatricality, memories of childhood, surrealism and expressiveness are the key themes in this collection. Hair is longer, the styling elegant and curls definitive.
Graphic Elegance encompasses strong contrasts, graphic accuracy and the perfect silhouette. The look is androgynous and timeless with strong, masculine accessories. Hair is kept short and cuts are accurate with youthful effect. The look is all about basic lines kept simple.
Stylists who show an understanding of the trends, skill and originality in hair, styling and colour work and who create an exceptional, flowing overall look will be named New Zealand's Wella Trend Vision Award 2003 winner in their category.
Award entries close at the end of August and winners will be announced mid September.
"We are elated to be able to offer New Zealand stylists the opportunity to win this prestigious, global competition," says Wella New Zealand national sales manager, Mike Beauchamp.
"We know New Zealand stylists are extremely
creative and inspirational and have no doubt the New Zealand
winner will certainly shine among the worlds best live on
stage in Berlin. We are incredibly excited at the prospect
as no doubt stylists around the country are too."
