NZL EUROPE SAILOR IN MEDALLING POSITION AT EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP

NZL Europe class Olympic campaigner Sarah Macky from Kohimarama Yacht Club is in 3rd place going into the last day of racing at the Europe Class Europeans in Spain. Macky qualified for the gold fleet where she is racing against 62 top class competitors. World number 1 and defending Champion, Sari Multala of Finland, is leading the fleet with Siren Sundby of Norway in 2nd place.
Conditions have been reasonably light and Macky has had to adjust to the heat of the European summer, she reports "it has been really, really hot! I found it so hard to keep hydrated and I was having to drink during the races".
There are two races scheduled for the last day to complete the scheduled 10 race series.

SAILORS WAIT FOR BREEZE AT 470 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
Two days have now passed in the 470 European Championships in Brest, France and things are starting to look bleak with the first race yet to be completed. Five New Zealand teams are amongst the 156 at the Championship including current World Champions, Simon Cooke and Peter Nicholas; Andrew Brown/Jamie Hunt; Jamie Thompson/Scott Wilkinson; Geoff Wooley/Mark Overington and Shelley Hesson/Linda Dickson who will be racing against the 43 other women's crews. Yachting New Zealand double-handed Coach John Clinton reported back from the regatta earlier this morning NZ time, "there has been no wind for the first 2 days of the regatta and the forecast is not so good for the next few, everyone is afraid that they will try and push the regatta through in bad conditions if they panic when the days
