Gold
& Sacrifice: Treasures of Ancient Peru 18 July – 28
September A tale of human sacrifice, unimaginable treasures,
ancient power struggles and the supernatural, comes to life
in this exhibition of one of the world’s great lost
civilisations. Gold & Sacrifice: Treasures of Ancient Peru,
explores the gold, power and ritual of the Incas and their
ancestors. Indemnified by the New Zealand Government and
generously supported by Walker & Hall and LanChile. Special
Exhibition Hall 1.

Metaform 03 6 June – 7 September Examples of
innovative NZ furniture designs are on display in an
exhibition showcasing the winners of the Metaform 03
competition. Designers were given the opportunity to be the
first to work with an innovative new wood product, Green
Seal, a hardwood alternative which uses wood from
sustainably managed NZ pine plantation forests. The winning
designs show how innovation and design can work together to
push traditional boundaries. Metaform 03 is sponsored by
Carter Holt Harvey, AGM Publishing and Locus Research,
Design and Development. Decorative Arts East and West.

Pacific Jewellery 28
August – 7 December An exhibition to mark the latest book
written by our own curator of Ethnology, Roger Niech. The
exhibition focuses on the jewellery and photographs that are

Gallery Opens 21 September A permanent exhibition displaying
magnificent Korean art from the National Museum of Korea.

the opening of the new Arts of Korea Gallery. Lectures,

Time in Motion – Happy Holidays! Sunday
28 September The Time in Motion non-fiction film series,
curated by the New Zealand Film Archive, looks at the great
Kiwi escape. From snow to sand, sea to bush, New Zealanders
have always made the most of their holidays.
