The Packer Season: Tuesday 26 - Saturday 30 August Time: 9pm Tickets: $16 waged $12 concession

Dianna Fuemana brings cardboard boxes and bubblewrap to BATS this week for the first-ever season of THE PACKER - a solo show performed by Jay Bunyan (Neighbours, Being Eve).

Dianna will be remembered by theatre-goers for her show MAPAKI, which came to BATS in 1999 and for which she was nominated Outstanding New Writer of the Year at the Chapman Tripp Theatre Awards.

THE PACKER is a story told from the point-of-view of Shane, a young Westie in Auckland. We first meet him at his job - packing boxes - but it's not long before we're introduced to his alcoholic mother, Joyce; his hyper mate, Brad, and the object of his affections, Pina - the Niuean girl next door.

Special Filter Season: Wednesday 27 - Saturday 30 August Time: 7pm Tickets: $12 waged $10 concession

Out of the cold and dark of winter comes Special Filter, a quirky and sublime dance performance that will warm you from your socks to your soul, mingling dance with text, visuals, multimedia, and live music from Wellington jazz band Dirty Republic.

Special Filter is a collection of contemporary dance works by several of Wellington¹s emerging choreographers and dancers as well as some of the most established and prolific, including acclaimed dancer Raewyn Hill.

³It¹s going to be hilarious, sad and sweet,² says actor-cum-dancer Andrew Foster of his physical theatre piece, which will feature video technology and text. Choreographer and dancer Sarah Sproull says her piece includes a strong visual element of light, multimedia and improvised dance as well as well-crafted sequences. It is also ³fun, fun, fun,² she says. ³I don¹t want to take myself too seriously. That is the kiss of death for me.²

Choreography by Sarah Sproull, Raewyn Hill, Beaue Frost, Maria Dabrowska and Andrew Foster. Visuals/graphics by Fu-Union.
