DAY @ TE PAPA
WELLINGTON Saturday 22 October Te Papa 10am - 4.30pm Experience a full day of educational and musical entertainment, introducing you to the workings of a professional orchestra and the individuals within it. Each section of the orchestra (woodwind, brass, strings, percussion etc) will present mini-demonstrations of their role in their sections of the orchestra, and how their instruments work. The demonstrations are informative and fun, explaining the instruments in everyday terms; a wind player might demonstrate how a French Horn produces pitch by blowing on a piece of garden hose and invite an audience member to reproduce these special sounds. There is also the opportunity to meet and question players individually. At 3pm there will be a free family concert that will include well-known and much loved repertoire conducted by recently appointed NZSO Associate Conductor - Hamish McKeich.
