Ruth Pretty Nominated Among Worlds Best
Ruth Pretty, caterer and author of two cookbooks, has been nominated for the 2003 Jacob’s Creek World Food Media Awards in the Best Soft Cover Recipe Book section. Pretty is one of two New Zealanders who have been nominated among the twenty four nominees. She received her nomination for The Ruth Pretty Cookbook published by Penguin Books NZ.
Over 1,000 entries were received for the awards and Pretty’s nomination sees her name among international food stars such as Kylie Kwong, Donna Hay and Sophie Grigson. The nomination will be acknowledged and winner announced at the Awards Presentation in Brisbane on 11 October 2003.

Pretty’s career started with her restaurant Marbles in Wellington. In 1993 she started Ruth Pretty Catering and the Ruth Pretty Cooking School with her husband Paul Pretty. She is a regular contributor to National Radio programmes and since 1999 has had her own column in the Dominion Post Weekend paper. She is the author of two books: The Best of Ruth Pretty and The Ruth Pretty Cookbook. Her latest book Ruth Pretty Cooking at Springfield will be released in November 2003.
