Legendary vocal quartet tours NZ
One of the world’s best-loved quartets, The Manhattan Transfer, tours New Zealand in October – culminating in two Auckland concerts with the Auckland Philharmonia as part of the orchestra’s Telecom Pops series.
The quartet, known for their many chart-topping hits including Chanson D' Amour, Operator, Boy from New York City, Java Jive, Birdland and Twilight Zone, have not been seen live in New Zealand since the ’80s.
Veterans of numerous sold-out world tours, The Manhattan Transfer have enjoyed three decades of fame. The quartet, which still comprises the original members, Tim Hauser, Alan Paul, Janis Siegel and Cheryl Bentyne, have over 20 albums under their belt, a total of eight Grammy Awards, and can boast worldwide sales in the millions.
Few in the music business have more class and style than The Manhattan Transfer. They have conquered the vocal intricacies of Jazz, R&B, Doo-Wop, Brazilian and Rock 'n' Roll, and have put their unique spin on the classic sounds of Swing.
