Women's NPC Grand Final Live On Sky Television

Women's NPC Grand Final Live On Sky Television

Auckland take on Wellington in the division one grand final of the Lion Foundation Cup - women's provincial rugby competition - screening LIVE this Sunday, September 21 from 12:05pm on SKY Television's Rugby Channel.

The women's NPC final will be the curtain raiser for the highly anticipated match between Southland and Auckland at Eden Park this Sunday - screening LIVE from 2:20pm on SKY Sport 1 and in widescreen on the Rugby Channel.

The two women's teams met last year in the final with Auckland trouncing Wellington by 48 points.

Wellington are full of confidence after an impressive away win in the semi-finals against Canterbury, but Auckland will be hard to beat as they remain undefeated since 1994 - ironically the last side to topple them was Welington.

The Black Ferns squad is selected off the back of the ever-strengthening Lion Foundation Cup NPC that consists of 14 sides from around the country.

Many of the players taking the field this Sunday will make-up the Black Ferns side who will face their first international match of the season against a World XV on October 4 in Auckland.

Former Black Fern, SKY Rugby and Sport 365 presenter, Melodie Robinson, will be providing sideline commentary for the game.

She said, "The Lion Foundation Cup is a fantastic platform for women rugby players to be seen and develop their skills before the international season."

"The Black Ferns success on the international stage is testament to a strong provincial competition," said Robinson.

"This promises to be an exciting game that I think Auckland should win because they have such a depth of talent, but my loyalties are divided because I played for both Wellington and Auckland."

Catch the LIVE Lion Foundation Division One Grand Final exclusively on the Rugby Channel this Sunday before Auckland's NPC clash against the in-form Southlanders.
