Christmas Arrives Early at Auckland Museum
Celebrate Christmas at Auckland Museum with a gift for the kids at Starship Children's Hospital when you visit us on Sunday 16 November for a day of fun and festivities.
Nine-year old Jesse Gordon and her sister Jamie, seven, drop off a gift at the Auckland Museum for Starship Children’s Hospital. Jesse has spent over two months in hospital in the past year receiving intensive treatment and Jamie has also been a Starship patient.
Join Mercury Energy, Auckland Museum and the Starship Foundation and help us decorate our Christmas tree by bringing a new gift for one of the many children likely to spend part of the Christmas period in Starship Children’s Hospital this year. Please note, gifts for the kids must be new and non-perishable to help prevent cross-infection.
There will be plenty to see and do on the day including live Christmas music from around the world, performed by the Mandolinata Orchestra, City of Sails Chorus and the Jubilate Chamber Choir, as well as Grant Chilcott crooning your favourite Christmas tunes.
Estralia, a modern fairy tale bringing together music, eurhythmy and storytelling, and written by poet, Grant Hindin Miller, will warm the hearts of children and adults alike.
Naturally there will be a special guest appearance by Santa, who will be joined by other favourite Christmas characters.
Other highlights include screenings of historic footage of the Farmers Santa Parade, a special talk on the New Zealand Christmas Tree, the Pohutukawa, children’s Christmas craft activities and much more!
Purchase a gift from Parnell Mainstreet, and your gift gets free gift wrapping and delivery to Auckland Museum.
