Viral Marketing Workshop

Viral Marketing Workshop

Is print dead? How do fringe acts cut through the mass of publicity at festival time? Why do people buy tickets and how do I reach them?

In preparation for Fringe 04: Revelation, the Fringe NZ office is running a free workshop on Marketing for Fringey acts. Thursday 6 November, 4-5pm at the Fringe NZ offices [level 1, 58 - 60 Victoria Street, Wellington].

It is open to all Fringe participants, and all those that are thinking of participating in next years festival. Marketing Fringe NZ Festival Acts is "selling without selling out" - it's low budget, pure ideas, no crap. Our three speakers will talk you through a paradigm that uses the fringe brand and target audiences to make a real and relevant plan.

Mark Cubey, Erin Rush and Eric Holowacz will talk about how to attract attention for your act using media that matters. And why you should forget the 4 Ps [marketing rules].

Mark Cubey is a founder of ARMS.org.nz - a not for profit organisation set up to help artists and the arts industry create and promote successful business enterprises.

Erin Rush is an account manager for Breathe Communications where she is responsible for business development and client relationships. She has experience in consulting, marketing and multimedia.

Eric Holowacz is the Wellington City Council's Community Arts Coordinator. His role is to support Wellington's many diverse communities in their recreation and arts work.

All three will discuss using conventional marketing channels, as well as the more viral forms - street stunts, chalking, low budget and high quality IT publicity. The larger aim is to push your thinking about what will work for an audience.

You don't need to rsvp for the workshop, just come up to the Fringe office, L1, 58-60 Victoria Street.

And don't forget to enroll your act in the festival before 24 November 2003, or 10 November 2003 if you are applying for money. Do it at www.fringe.org.nz
