The Puppet Show 26 December – 8 February A fun, family based show exploring the art and magic of puppetry, from the traditional satire of Punch and Judy, to the wit and whimsy of shadow puppetry. Live performances every day. (details below) Special Exhibition Hall 1.

Frank Carpay at Crown Lynn and Beyond Until 18 January An exhibition exploring the work of Crown Lynn ceramic artist, Frank Carpay. Inspired by Picasso, Matisse and Braque, Carpay fused Continental modernism with Pacific pattern to produce unique designs on a variety of media. From drawings and ceramics, to textiles and photography and quirky hand-printed garments. Decorative Arts Gallery. Standard Museum donation entry.

Pompallier Te Hokinga Mai – The Journey Home Until 18 January Photography following the journey home to New Zealand of the remains of Bishop Pompallier. Accompanied by Pompallier’s traveling altar, throne and desk, his ring, cross, bible and cope. Decorative Arts Gallery. Standard Museum donation entry.

Living Treasures Day – Treasures of Tibet Sunday 18 January As part of the Festival of Tibet, Auckland Museum will be holding a special themed event day featuring visiting Tibetan artist Karma Phuntsok and musician Tenzin Choegyal. All day. Standard Museum donation entry.

Music in the Museum - Ionosphere Sunday 11 January A fusion of jazz, tribal drums and didgeridoo. 3pm. Ocean’s Gallery. Standard Museum donation entry.

10-MINUTE ACTIVITIES

Make your own puppet at one of our Discovery Centre workshops. All 10-minute activities cost $2 or $1 for Dinomite members, and are on from 10am – 12 noon and 1.30pm - 3.00pm in the Children’s Discovery Centres

WORKSHOPS

Learn the art of puppetry and craft your own theatre with our Puppet Show performers. All workshops cost $25 per child or $20 for Dinomite members.
