Top Line-Up for First Night 2004
Top New Zealand bands, traditional cultural performances, Pasifika, arts and crafts and family entertainment will feature at First Night 2004 in the Aotea Centre and Aotea Square.
Presented by THE EDGE®, First Night 2004 is a free community celebration to welcome in the new year. The First Night event is now in its fifth year and has become a highlight of Auckland’s New Year’s Eve celebrations.
This year’s entertainment line up is better than ever! Street performers will feature in Aotea Square and five stages will be running throughout the night from 6pm to 1am. Gates open at 5.15pm.
The line-up for the Outdoor Stage on Aotea Square showcases some of the best contemporary music New Zealand has to offer with performances from The Brunettes, one million dollars, Damien Binder, Augustino, Goldenhorse, Carly Binding, Katchafire and Mareko featuring Deceptikonz.
Additional music performers confirmed for the event include Dean Chandler, Pennydrop, eight, Karen Hunter, SPINNER, Billy TK Jnr and lena.
“We’re thrilled to be able to offer such a great
cross-section of well-known home-grown acts for First Night
2004,” says THE EDGE® producer Mike Clarkin.
Inside the
Aotea Centre will be a cultural festival with performances
on the ASB Theatre stage, and in the foyers throughout the
building.
“The theme Many Faces Many Places reflects our diverse cultures and we’re showcasing our multi-cultural city through performance, arts and crafts and food,” Mike says.
“Last year more than 30,000 people attended First Night and we’re expecting similar numbers this year. First Night 2004 will be a true carnival in the centre of the city.”
First Night 2004 is a drug and alcohol free event and ensures everyone a safe, fun and welcoming environment to mark the New Year.
There is something for everyone at First Night 2004 at THE EDGE® and everyone is welcome to this free community event. For more information, visit our website www.firstnight.org.nz
