New Year Awards for Film Makers

New Year Awards for Film Makers

Interest in the Flying Fives Film Competition has become intense as the entry deadline approaches, 30 January 2004 and the Return of the King opens.

Entries have so far been received as far a field as Chicago.

Organisers believe the industry related prizes, the chance to be one of the selected movies shown on the Rialto Channel and the opportunity to win an eMac G4 are proving very attractive to New Zealand’s filmmakers.

The industry related prizes include a two-day secondment to leading drama production house, The Gibson Group under the direction of Dave Gibson. Or a two-day secondment to a leading computer graphics and animation company, Oktobor under the direction of Dean Lyon.

“I’m not sure whether these events are linked but once the Return of the King hit the last days countdown to opening we noticed an upswing in people signing on as making a film to enter the Flying Fives,” said spokesperson John Bullock.

“The awards night is scheduled for April 2004 with the on air screening date for the Rialto Channel likely to be May.
