Yatra - Journey for Identity Season: Friday 6 - Saturday 14 February Time: 8pm Tickets: $15 full/ $12 concession/ $10 Fringe Addict

'Yatra: Journey for Identity¹ is a new devised collaborative work that draws on the talents of all seventeen members of the Untouchables Collective. This work merges theatre and live music by incorporating the voices of all the members of the collective including four actors (Rina Patel, Rashmi Pilapitiya, Tarun Mohanbhai and Rajeev Varma), as well as the musical influences of the members of Tu-Faan Express sound system (Karnan Saba, Dikesh Gandhi and Arindam Sen) and directed by Jade Eriksen.

Exploring the issue of migration and the sense of isolation and dislocation, members of the collective are given a chance to voice their stories, thereby celebrating South Asian migrant culture and identity in New Zealand. This work celebrates the creation and expression of South Asian identity here in New Zealand for the actors and musicians as well as the audience. For the members of the collective, this work represents an awakening of their New Zealand South Asian consciousness.
