This Easter Wellington Will Go To War!
This Easter Wellington Will Go To War!
X-Cess! 2004 is the First International Paintball Tournament to be run entirely indoors and will feature top teams from the USA and Australia taking on the best of their Kiwi counterparts.
In the world of Extreme Sport no individual activity has grown as rapidly as the thrill of Paintball. In the last few years with the evolution of the sport’s technology, thousands of people in New Zealand have participated in games at the various fields spread throughout the country. Played as a fun pastime, a ‘business house’ team building exercise or as a serious organised sport, Paintball combines a number of high energy skill factors. From athleticism and exercise to strategy thinking and team tactics, from technical dexterity and knowledge to social interaction and communication. Paintball also reminds us of our own ‘human nature’, our ‘survival instinct’ and natural defensiveness. Most of all Paintball is entertaining to play and watch. Paintball is fun to the extreme!
Over the four days of Easter 2004, 18 teams will compete in a NZPPA sanctioned round-robin competition until an ultimate winning team is achieved. The event will also host a celebrity challenge and allow for considerable public play periods.
With twenty play-zones and participation and a spectator capacity of approximately 1700, thousands of visitors are expected. The event will be presented in the Queens Wharf Events Centre where the entire ground floor level will consist of an almost transparent ‘mesh cage’ arena filled with the barriers and obstacles that are part of the paintball game. Lights, music, giant screen, professional announcers, food and beverage areas and hospitality hosting are elements to complete the exciting entertainment picture.
Like true ‘gladiator’ spectacles. X-Cess! 2004 is designed to entertain those who already follow the sport and to show the world of Paintball to those who have never experienced it before. Paintball spans all generations and the genders and is truly universal in its appeal.
X-cess! is an admissionable spectator event in the
tournament periods only. All other public play periods will
be by’ gold coin’ donation to support a New Zealand
Charity.
Team entries are open to players domestically
and public play periods by booking or door sales at
Ticketek.
The organiser, the Worlds of Wellington Trust, which delivered the Diana’s Dresses Exhibition and the Spring Break Ice Rink continues to provide high quality major community events to the Capital and New Zealand.
