Celebrate summer at the Botanic Gardens Festival
Celebrate summer at the Botanic Gardens Festival
9 February 2004
Storytelling, children’s theatre, face painting, kite flying, the great “Bumble Bee Hunt”, train rides and a double-decker bus will all be part of the Botanic Gardens Summer Festival, Sunday 22nd February.
“The Summer Festival is a wonderful opportunity for Aucklanders to enjoy their Botanic Gardens and will be a great family day,” says Auckland Regional Council Parks and Heritage Committee Chairman Bill Burrill.
As well as the fun family activities there will be plenty for garden enthusiasts. Join in with flax weaving, learn to make hypertufa pots, sow vegetable seeds, and watch a botanical art demonstration.
Follow the experts, Jack Hobbs and friends on a tour of the Gardens.
If shopping is more your thing – this will be a great day for you too, with locally made crafts, herbal remedies, books, gardening products, fresh produce and cut flowers.
Plenty of plants will be on sale with begonias, dahlias, and clivias, a good selection of perennials, succulents and of course lots of native plants. There will also be Maori potatoes, vegetable seeds and Ecostore products. If you’re looking for something special for your garden you’ll find it at the Botanic Gardens Summer Festival.
After all the excitement, relax with wine and cheese and listen to the music in the beautiful surrounds of the Gardens.
