Openair Cinema: Ring Trilogy Confirmed
Openair Cinema: Ring Trilogy confirmed
Waiheke, 9 February 2004
Open-Air Cinema Ltd. is proud to announce that the Lord of The Rings Trilogy is confirmed for this weekend, with 'The Fellowship of the Ring' playing on Friday 13 February, 'The Two Towers' on Saturday 14 February and 'The Return of The King' on Sunday 15 February 2004. It has been a challenge to make sure that this wonderful work by Peter Jackson is screened outdoors at the Viaduct Harbour in Auckland. After confirming Russel Crowe's 'Master and Commander' for Thursday this week, the Open-air Cinema will conclude its first season with a spectacular finale.
The screenings will start at 8.20 and doors open at 7pm. Tickets are on sale online www.openair.co.nz and at the ticket office on Te Wero Island, Viaduct Harbour (open daily from 12noon to 10pm). The Ring-Fans can purchase a triple-pass for all three nights for a special price of $30 for flat seats or $40 for Grandstand seating. Single tickets are sold for $12 (Flat) and $16 (Grandstand).
Tips for the Open-air Experience:
- Pick up your tickets during the day, so you avoid queuing in the evening.
- The only reason for cancellation is heavy wind (more than 30 knots). So bring your wet weather gear if it looks like rain.
- The duration of the movies is more than three hours: it's wise to bring a cushion, maybe some blankets or a jumper; it's getting chilly at the waterfront.
- If you wish, you can bring some food - although we sell ice cream, soft drinks and coffee.
For information about ticketing, please call our ticket office (from 12-10pm) on 09 368 4386

Open-Air Cinema is a private initiative of some idealistic Waiheke Island residents. The aim is to add a spark to Auckland's summer lifestyle and offer a special movie-going experience to Aucklanders and tourists as well.
