'Yatra: Journey for Identity¹ is a new devised collaborative work that draws on the talents of all seventeen members of the Untouchables Collective. This work merges theatre and live music by incorporating the voices of all the members of the collective including four actors (Rina Patel, Rashmi Pilapitiya, Tarun Mohanbhai and Rajeev Varma), as well as the musical influences of the members of Tu-Faan Express sound system (Karnan Saba, Dikesh Gandhi and Arindam Sen) and directed by Jade Eriksen.
Exploring the issue of migration and the sense of isolation and dislocation, members of the collective are given a chance to voice their stories, thereby celebrating South Asian migrant culture and identity in New Zealand. This work celebrates the creation and expression of South Asian identity here in New Zealand for the actors and musicians as well as the audience. For the members of the collective, this work represents an awakening of their New Zealand South Asian consciousness.
Season: Friday 13 - Wednesday 18 February
Time: 9.30pm

The world he writes is dark, sexy and haunting, his characters profoundly pessimistic and whimsically humorous. Someday he will leave their midst. What happens after Kafka? Kafka and six of his characters are held together, acting and re-enacting pasts and presents that blur their separate realities. With frenzied attempts to create and destroy, they lead the audience through a gamut of theatrical worlds in the hope of writing themselves a future.
An experimental dark comedy, After Kafka delights the audience with surreally humorous, rich physical and verbal storytelling. Drawing on text, physical score and audio-visual material, it weaves together the lives and hopes of Kafka and his characters into a significant and entertaining piece of choreographic theatre. From the pen of Angie Farrow, directed by Ryan Hartigan.
