PRESS RELEASE

Auckland, February 13, 2004

Morningside Productions has begun to shoot a new series of 'Open Door' for TV3.

Open Door is a unique series of quality half hour documentaries that allows groups or individuals to apply to make a documentary programme about an issue, be it family, social, sexual, political, religious or whatever, that involves or concerns them.

'Open Door' provides a free opportunity for New Zealanders to voice their opinions and beliefs on national television. It's an opportunity to let the people "have their say in their own way".

We are now actively seeking proposals for programmes from people with firmly held opinions and energetic commitment to a matter that they're actively involved with.

Past series' have included programmes on refugees, permaculture etc. The programmes are made 'from the bottom up'; the creative initiative comes from members of the general community (unlike most programming which is made from the top down'). Because of this the programmes are enlightening, entertaining and contain stories that cannot be found in standard TV storytelling.

Morningside Productions is the only company making programmes like this and the only company that gives editorial control to the people involved in the programme.

We are fully funded by New Zealand on Air as part of their 'special interest' documentaries fund. Open Door is broadcast weekly on TV 3 at Sunday lunchtime .
