Triangle TV brings Bonanza Back To Screens
Triangle Television brings old cowboy favourite to our
screens
Triangle Television is to screen 20 episodes of the eternally popular cowboy show 'Bonanza' which first screened more than 40 years ago.
Bonanza will air at 7.30pm every Sunday from March 6, a popular viewing time for families. The show will delight children and offer older viewers a trip down memory lane.
The saying "Old cowboys never die" has more than a ring of truth when it's applied to Bonanza, the saga of Ben Cartwright and his three sons, Adam, Hoss and Little Joe and their wild west ranch, Ponderosa.
Bonanza screened for an incredible 14 years on American television and was syndicated to virtually every country. Its characters, played by Lorne Greene, Pernell Roberts, Dan Blocker and Michael Landon, were loved by hundreds of millions of fans. Its theme song is instantly recognised and the show is still popular due to world-wide re-runs. Internet fan clubs attract new fans each time the show is aired.
Bonanza first screened in 1959 and gained popularity when it was assigned a Sunday night time slot. For 10 of its 14-year run, it was consistently in the top 10 of all rated shows and, from 1964 to 1967, it was the most watched programme in America. The last new episode aired in 1973.
In many ways, Bonanza was ahead of its time. The show dealt with controversial issues, such as racial prejudice, abuse, psychological problems, drug and alcohol abuse, and mercy killing. The skilled cast handled drama and comedy with equal ease.
