Powhiri For Top UK Music Talent
World-class music industry leaders from the UK will be officially welcomed tonight (10/04) at the launch of a three-day seminar in Auckland.
A powhiri kicks off at 6pm at the Auckland Art Gallery - Toi o Tamaki for special guests including respected writer and producer Colin Emmanuel, top entertainment lawyer Sarah Waddington, music video producer Pete Chambers and video commissioner Liz Kessler.
Presented by the British Council New Zealand, Auckland radio station Mai FM 88.6 and the New Zealand Music Industry Commission with the help of NZ On Air and Flying Fish, Resonate 2004 is designed to educate, enlighten and explore the similarities and differences between creative disciplines in the UK and New Zealand.
The seminar sessions run from Thursday (11/4) to Saturday (13/4).
R'nB singing sensation Jamelia - currently rocking the Kiwi charts with her hit 'Superstar' - and Beggars Group founder and chairman Martin Mills are also among the stellar list of industry experts set to speak at the seminar.
Jamelia will perform at an exclusive showcase at Galatos on Thursday evening(11/3).
British Council New Zealand director Paul Atkins says participants are in for a treat if the three days generate anything like the buzz of last year's event.
"Our aim is to provide an opportunity for people to exchange ideas with, and learn from, a group of people who have already made their names in the music industry. Our strapline - inspiring greatness - says it all."
