Excerpts from forthcoming choreographic season

Dancers: Anita Hunziker and Travis Khan

Friday 21 May 2004

On Friday 11 June, second and third year contemporary dance students from the New Zealand School of Dance, will be holding an informal showing of excerpts from their forthcoming choreographic season, the Smokefree Arts Season of Intimate Space.

The Smokefree Arts Season of Intimate Space, choreographed and performed by the second and third year contemporary dance students, continues the tradition of presenting innovative, dynamic works by fresh new talent. The first half, Ascension, is based on the expressive works of French sculptor Auguste Rodin, while the second half, Mathematical Geography, is inspired by the works of one of New Zealand's finest artists, Colin McCahon. Set to a new score composed by Stephen Gallagher and Micka.

The showing will be held in Dance Studio One at the Te Whaea: National Dance and Drama Centre, 11 Hutchison Road, Newtown from 7.00 - 8.00 p.m. and entry is a gold coin donation.

We will be opening the box office at the completion of the showing and offering a discount on all ticket prices for the season. Normal ticket prices are: $15 for Adults and $12 for concession but if you book and pay on the informal showing night adult tickets are $12 and concession is $10.

The Smokefree Arts Season of Intimate Space opens on Tuesday 22 June and runs until Saturday 26 June. Performances are at 8pm, with a 2pm matinee on Saturday 26 June. Please note: Tickets are available for performances from 23 June to 26 June only.
