"The Unfinished Spelling Errors of Bolkien"
"The Lord of the Rings"
- a wonderful book, a brilliant movie AND
NOW the
inspiration for
an original MUSICAL in three parts:
PART ONE: "The Lost Grocery Lists
of Tolkien"
PART TWO: "The Unfinished Spelling
Errors of Bolkien"
PART THREE: "The Digitally
re-mastered Thumbprint of Tolkien"
with Martin Pearson as the entire cast of thousands
This hilarious new show by master comic Martin Pearson was inspired by the thought that although "Lord of the Rings" is a great book and a fantastic movie, it would be so much better as a musical. "The Unfinished Spelling Errors of Bolkein" was launched at the Australian National Folk Festival in Canberra, Easter 2004, with three sold out performances and a standing ovation, followed by a sold out show at Canberra's comedy venue, The Merry Muse. With incredible diversity and invention, Martin Pearson plays the entire cast!
"The Unfinished Spelling Errors of Bolkein" is being hailed in Australia as "A monstrous success! An absolute winner! Hysterical, very very funny. Martin is extremely articulate, fast and funny ." [Audience comments, Canberra.]
Martin Pearson tours New Zealand from 11 - 28 June 2004, performing "The Unfinished Spelling Errors of Bolkein" at some venues, and a stand-up comedy/music show in others. This is his first New Zealand tour.
MARTIN PEARSON
Self-described as "multiple-choice performer" Australian Martin Pearson is a parody writer of renown, a satirist, poet, debater and storyteller, as well as a singer of traditional folk songs. A comedian with a keen eye for making everyday events so mundane that they are laughable, Martin is a firm favorite on the Australian comedy and festival circuit.
"Martin's humour is rapier wit at it's sharpest... like a hot spoon through butter... "
... quick wit in his political and social satire, some of which became vehicles for his easy folk singing, self-accompanied on guitar.
He is a good yarn-spinner, and time passed quickly, as it does when you're having fun. " Patricia Kelly, The Courier Mail
