New Zealand To Host The Inaugural Cocktail World Cup

The first ever 42 BELOW Cocktail World Cup will be held at Coronet Peak on June 28th during the 30th Winter Festival in Queenstown.
32 bartenders and international media from around the world will converge on the cocktail competition that will be held in teams of three between different countries; UK vs. USA vs. Australia vs. Canada vs. New Zealand. There will be 6 bartenders from the UK, 6 from USA’s East Coast, 5 from USA’ s West Coast, 2 from Vancouver, 6 from Australia, and 6 from New Zealand. Competitors will be announced on Tuesday 1st June.
Drinks mixology has become a profession worldwide and the competition is attracting the best from the likes of Park, 9 ½ and 203 Spring St. lounge in New York; Le Bar in Chicago; Lola’s in L.A.; Lounge Lover, Milk & Honey, Match and the Ritz in London; Moorish and Longrain in Sydney; Lychee Lounge in Brisbane; Ginger in Melbourne; and New Zealand’s best as well.
International media have also shown a great deal of interest in covering the event. Platinum TV (U.S.), Discovery Channel, Time Magazine, Vegas Magazine, High Roller Magazine and numerous other international magazines are planning to cover the inaugural event with many of them sending crews and reporters to New Zealand.
The competition will be held on the snow at 2pm, Monday 28th June on the side of the famous skiing mecca, Coronet Peak. Every team has to choose one cocktail to present (out of three) and a theme. The seven judges include guest judges: Nathan Haines (renowned musician), Pat Nourse (Australian Gourmet Traveller), Paul Wootton (Class Magazine – UK) and the 42 Below Vodka Professor.
While it is a serious competition with the winning cocktail being published worldwide, hosts 42 Below are will also be testing the competitors ability at cocktail making while skiing, jet boating and bungy jumping – this will not however be a part of the formal competition.
