The foundation was given CNZ funding (with thanks) for research and development to travel around the country talking with peoples about the hub...hopefully this will generate more ideas and input about how the hub can be helpful to the different audio communities and individuals. some of the thoughts and suggestions from the first trip to Wellington...
to create a distribution area (in an open source manner) of mp3 albums, discussion is around whether to use mp3s or ogg vorbis. Initially keep it free to download, but looking at a pay-pal system for future use maybe? We would need a lot of server space, so if anyone knows of a lovely free server??? compilation DVD from various labels around the country a few queries as to what constitutes experimental music/ sound art etc in the context of the hub. One opinion is that this is a culture of sound or music about ideas rather than or as well as aesthetic. .. To create a discography/performance field in the profile uploading area to give the punter/audience more of an idea around whether this is an established or emerging artist being profiled to put venues, press/media and funding pages into the links.
any other thoughts, pass em on, look forward to reading them z
