Poll Opens For NZ's Most Fashionable T-Shirt

29 June 2004

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

HEAVY VOTING AS POLL OPENS FOR NEW ZEALAND'S MOST FASHIONABLE T-SHIRT.

Five finalists have been chosen and now it's up to lovers of fashion from all over the country to decide the official t-shirt for Air New Zealand Fashion Week.

More than 250 t-shirts were entered in this year's competition with tees of all descriptions arriving at MAX stores around the country as the competition went public for the first time.

Judges from MAX, Air New Zealand Fashion Week's Pieter Stewart and designer Kate Sylvester made their selection and the winner will be announced nearer the collections in October.

MAX Managing Director David Wright is amazed by the standard of entries this year.

"We thought it would be hard to top the designs from our previous winners but the inspiration and creativity from around the country is stunning. It's great to see how many people share the MAX vision of Keeping New Zealand Beautiful, especially when it comes to maximizing the international profile the t-shirts will get through Air New Zealand Fashion Week."

Voting for the tee shirts is available on the MAX website (www.max.co.nz). It went live for MAX VIP customers a short time ago and already more than 3,500 votes have been registered.

The finalists are Cathy Hansby, Auckland with Tapemeasure, Michelle Bluck, Auckland with To love what we know, Kaye Su, Wellington created New Zealand Designers, Christchurch's Hannah Ogilvie depicts Passport to Fashion on her t-shirt and Helen Osborne, Auckland created Pounamu Infinity Loop.
