Prestigious Fashion Award Calls For 2004 Entries

Westfield Style Pasifika - New Zealand's premiere fashion Award

Westfield Style Pasifika 2004, New Zealand's premiere fashion award for aspiring New Zealand and South Pacific based designers has launched for 2004.

There is now a call for entries nationwide with expressions of interest required by July 16 and garments due by August 7. www.stylepasifika.co.nz

"We are anticipating an extraordinary year in numbers of entries and quality of work," said the director of Westfield Style Pasifika, Stan Wolfgramm.

"Last year there were over 300 entries from New Zealand and all over the Pacific many of such outstanding quality and innovation the judges had their work cut out to select the winner."

Finalists will be featured in a Westfield Style Pasifika 2004 fashion, music and dance spectacular in the Auckland Town Hall on 2nd and 3rd September, with the winners announced on the final night.

New judges for the Award are Elisabeth Findlay from Zambesi and Joanne Gair the internationally acclaimed makeup and body artist.

Judges who have judged before and will be involved again this year are Liz Mitchell; Frances Hooper and Denise L'Éstrange - Corbet from World; Marilyn Kohlase from Creative New Zealand and Paul Blomfield from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

Now in its eleventh year, Producer and Director Stan Wolfgramm says each year entry numbers increased to record levels and the competition is constantly revealing new talent to the fashion world.

"Westfield Style Pasifika is unique in the fact that it celebrates fashion influenced by our place in the world combined with some of the best entertainment talent which creates an internationally original show."

John Widdup, Director of Westfield NZ says Westfield New Zealand is proud to support Style Pasifika and be involved in a true community event.

"Style Pasifika is New Zealand's premiere fashion award and is dedicated to showcasing the work of established and aspiring designers throughout the South Pacific. It involves people from all areas of the community and is a great way for Westfield to support fashion and creativity in New Zealand." he says.

The live show and awards are filmed for a TV One television special.

Westfield Style Pasifika has become an icon New Zealand show and has developed into the country's major fashion award.

Other sponsors for this years Award include Clairol Herbal Essence, Asia 2000 Foundation, Creative New Zealand and The Radio Network. The Aids foundation sponsors the unique Pasifika Hero.

Categories in the Westfield Style Pasifika Fashion Award are Three Piece Collection; Urban Street Wear; Men's Wear; Evening Wear; Bridal Wear; Parent and Child; Traditionally Inspired; Asia Pasifika, Pasifika Hero and Painted Body Art.

Entry forms for the fashion award will be available through fashion design schools, the Westfield Style Pasifika website, www.stylepasifika.co.nz or by calling 09 376 2103.

There are two important dates for the entries.

* Confirmation of the intention to enter is due by 16 July 2004. * All garments are due by 7 August 2004. * Details are clearly outlined on the entry forms.
