Urban Icons
A group exhibition of mixed media.
Over 20 artists interpret the Urban sprawl using creative wit and mediums that vary from stencil graffiti to digital assemblage. Urban Icons presents a unique reflection of commuters, big signs, routine, culture, industry, underground - and all the ingredients of the morphic city canvas. Urban Icons becomes ground zero at ROAR! gallery.
Flight, Feathers, and Utterances
An exhibition of paintings and photography
By Carolyn Blackwell
Carolyn’s work speaks of her search to understanding her Aotearoa roots through the connection with the land and the unique birds whose songs both greet us and recall history. “When we hear a birdsong, we are taken away from the humdrum and complications of modern society” Carolyn combines painting and photography using complex linear and figurative forms, resulting in works that depict serenity and intrigue.
Part of a Part
Exhibition of Oil Paintings by Mick Gentle.
Mick explores intimate and personal relationship between himself and landscape formations. The culmination of two years work has allowed Mick to take full ownership of oil painting. This has resulted in a unique coarse and organic treatment of the medium, allowing the viewer to contemplate the boundaries of abstract and personal metaphors.
