Bryce Does Us Proud
After 5298 bowls, The Rock’s announcer Bryce Casey (26) finished his attempt at the Guinness World Record for “The Longest Tenpin Bowling Marathon” at 51 hours and 26 minutes – three hours and 50 minutes short of the record. At 9:40am, adjudicators and Rock management halted the attempt with concerns over Bryce’s condition.
Bryce has been given the all clear by medical staff and when asked how he was feeling, he said he was disappointed and “really bloody tired”.
Brad King, Programme Director of The Rock said, “All of Bryce’s colleagues, mates and our listeners are really proud of his attempt – he’s got to be stoked that he smashed all NZ records. We’re awaiting confirmation that Bryce has also gained an Australasian record”.
Craig Nevatt, Chairman of Tenpin Bowling New Zealand Inc (TBNZ) has verified Bryce’s achievement against all recorded NZ attempts saying “What Bryce has achieved has been incredible.”
Bryce’s attempt started at 6:00am Wednesday morning (20 October) at Tenpin Takapuna.
GUINNESS WORLD RECORD: Current record for the longest tenpin bowling marathon is 55 hours and 16 minutes by Christian Hofer (Austria) at The Zone in Rosebank, Johannesburg, South Africa on 26 – 28 March 2004.
