New Year’s Eve Jungle Rock Party

MEDIA RELEASE
8 December 2004

New Year’s Eve Jungle Rock Party

Auckland Zoo’s first-ever New Year’s Eve Jungle Rock Party is going to be a wild night of celebration for the whole family (party is on Friday 31 December, 6pm – 10.30pm).

Join our MC and enjoy great live party music from Swingshift and other bands. There’ll also be performances from hip-hop dancers and other local cultural groups, as well as a spectacular laser graphics show!

In the ‘Tiger Timezone’ we will count down to New Year at 10pm, so big kids and little kids can welcome in 2005 together. There will be Pepsi give-aways, and the 91ZM Black Thunder and Flava 96.1 Hummer will be joining in the fun.

The summer evenings mean some of the animals will still be up, so come early and wander around the zoo, bring a picnic dinner, or purchase dinner from Darwin’s Café or the barbecues near the Band Rotunda. Darwin's is licensed, and a fully licensed bar will also be set up in the grounds. WETA espresso cafe and the Wild Zone Gift Shop, in the zoo’s new entrance complex, will be open for a great cup of coffee or some retail therapy.

“It’s going to be a fabulous, fun evening, with a real party feel and lots of great entertainment,” says Auckland Zoo’s events co-ordinator, Jackie Sanders.

“The bands are brilliant and will definitely get your feet tapping. The zoo is a great place to party – it’s a beautiful park, a safe and family-friendly environment, and a hassle-free place for people of all ages to celebrate the New Year. There’s plenty of parking, and bus routes close by for people who don’t want to drive. It’s going to be an awesome night.”
