‘The Zoo’ best on the box four years running
'The Zoo', featuring the life and times of animals and their keepers at Auckland Zoo, has been voted 'Best Reality Documentary Series' in The TV Guide People's Choice Awards for the fourth year in a row.
‘The Zoo’ gained 30 per cent of the votes in its category. A seventh series is currently in the making, which will be on screen in 2005. Fans of the programme can also take a walk down memory lane over the festive season with ‘The Best of The Zoo’ playing on TV2 at 7pm every weeknight from Monday 27 December.
"We're absolutely delighted that the series continues to strike a chord with New Zealand viewers of all ages," says Auckland Zoo Director, Glen Holland.
"People enjoy learning all about animals and the conservation programmes we're involved in, and love being taken behind the scenes in this way. Greenstone Pictures do a fantastic job capturing what really happens at the zoo on a day-to-day basis for animals, their keepers and veterinary staff."
Producer and director of ‘The Zoo’, Andrea Lamb, says she is thrilled with the award.
“Every year there are new TV shows competing with this series and it's a tribute to the production team, the staff and animals of Auckland Zoo that we continue to deliver programmes viewers obviously love watching. Look out for us again next year on TV2 when a new series will bring more stories about the animals and keepers of Auckland Zoo.”
