Name six colours across the line to win $50,000 Alfa Romeo
Picking the first horse past the winning post is hard enough but one lucky punter somewhere in New Zealand could win a $50,000 Alfa Romeo by naming the six jockey’s colours first across the line in the Dulux New Zealand Colour Map Wellington Cup at Trentham on Saturday, January 29.
The jockeys in the prestigious Cup race will wear silks in colours from the Dulux New Zealand Colour Map in honour of race sponsor Dulux. Each colour has a New Zealand place name.
Dulux national marketing manager Mike O’Donnell said it was a novel way of picking winners that should interest both seasoned punters and novices.
“Murphy’s Law dominates most race picks, with more study sometimes lessening the chances of winning. So why not take a punt at picking the winners based on colours or place names?” Mr O’Donnell said.
The entry form requires punters to list the first six horses as they cross the finish line in order by their number and Dulux colour map name. The prize is an Alfa Romeo 147 Lusso worth $50,000. Mail entries close on January 28 and on-course entries close by 2pm on Wellington Cup Day.
Entry forms are in Sunday papers on January 23 and are available on course. They are also in the Wellington Racing Club’s Turf Style magazine that went free to thousands of Wellington region households in recent weeks.
The TAB is also offering a “Six-Pack” $100,000 Wellington Cup jackpot based on the Dulux colours that must be struck.
