This is the premiere of the second series of PUTAHI TAKARO - a Maori sporting series with a difference. Presented by Kereti Rautangata, the 13-part magazine style sporting show presents sporting matters in the context of a range of contentious issues. Misuse of drugs, racism, homosexuality - no subject matter is too controversial for the series that aims to deliver the highest quality of te reo Maori within a sporting framework.

Maori Television will broadcast coverage of the Waka Ama Sprint Nationals 2005, taking place at Lake Karapiro. This important event will be broadcast in two parts, beginning on Wednesday February 2 at 8.30 PM and concluding on Wednesday February 9 at 8.30 PM.

(Sunday February 6 at 5.30 PM)

The original Maori music show launches its second series on Sunday February 6 at 5.30 PM. The premiere episode will feature exciting new musician Piripi Christie and outstanding songstress Jacqui Keelan.

Parents Of The Year
(Tuesday February 1 at 8.30 PM)

This award-winning short film is an exploration of 'The Great American Dream' as seen through the eyes of the impoverished, Hispanic immigrant Garcia family. The reality of leaving home for the Land of the Free is brutally and poignantly shared.
