Radio One 91FM Celebrates 21st Birthday and the Return of The Straitjacket Fits
Break out the yardglass and stand clear, because Radio One 91FM - Dunedin’s favourite campus-based radio entertainment phenomenon – turns 21 this Sunday the 20th of February. Good heavens, it’s exciting.
To mark our coming of age and the past 21 years of revolutionary and ridiculous broadcasting, 2005 is going to be a year of super gigs and sensible drinking (honest, Mum), of on-air debauchery and celebratory radio. The festivities kick off this Saturday, as we fill in the “Who are you? Where am I? Where are my trousers?” memory blanks of the last 21 years. As well as live-to-airs from The Renderers’ Maryrose Crook and Dub-edin new-comers The Irie Eyes, we’ll be revisiting the honorable and infamous faces, handsome devils and silky-voiced sirens from the station’s history, all our favourite features, and music that’s made the years fly past.
21 years old - we’re all grown up! That’s not to promise hourly weather reports or grouchy talkback any time soon (although the station knitting circle is going like gangbusters).
Listen in this Saturday 19th February for 21st birthday antics, interviews and live-to-airs, from 11am on Radio 1 91FM, or at http://www.r1.co.nz
