Festival Set For Profit
Chairman of the Southern Lakes Festival of Colour, John Beattie, announced today the first festival has already met its financial objectives, just one month on from the programme launch, putting it in a strong financial position for the 2007 event.
³The revenue generated from high ticket sales has put us in the very satisfying position of whatever happens, the festival will operate at a profit,² he said. ³This surplus will allow us to look at bringing some extra activities to the 2005 festival as well as enable us to confidently start planning for 2007.²
Mr Beattie went on to say according to the most recent ticket sales report, shows such as Don McGlashan, Te Vaka, Hot Club Sandwich, Muldoon, Niu Sila, King & Country and Mahinarangi Tocker all had a limited number of seats remaining.
Extra events planned for 2005 include Sidewalk Swing, a band from Adelaide who will tour Wanaka, Cromwell, Arrowtown and Queenstown, entertaining passers by with their dixie-style jazz.
