Developer Sponsors Theatre Taking Dig At Developers
With a touch of humour, Jim Boult of Luggate Holdings
Ltd, has announced his sponsorship of the play, Wheeler’s
Luck, at the Southern Lakes Festival of Colour in Lake
Wanaka this autumn.
Wheeler’s Luck is a wonderfully funny portrayal of what happens when an Auckland developer moves into a small coastal town.
“Wheeler’s Luck takes a light-hearted look at what is very topical subject for these parts,” said Boult. “I thought it’d be quite appropriate for a developer to support a play about the growth pressures on smaller New Zealand communities. People are no longer moving into the cities, now they’re heading out to the countryside for their slice of paradise. As a strong supporter of the Festival of Colour, I’m delighted to help bring this play not only to Wanaka, but also the smaller communities of Luggate and Hawea Flat.”
In this play, the two actors, Nigel Collins and Toby Leach, create an entire community with only a ship’s bell for a prop. They tell the story of the town, the future of which is being hotly debated. Will the community line up with the Mayor and Auckland property developer to choose a new course for their town? Or will they seek to lock up the land?
In a case of life imitating art, Boult has already completed a number of successful subdivisons in Queenstown and is the principal behind Luggate Village, a new development that has announced plans to double the size of the small village on the outskirts of Wanaka.
Wheeler’s Luck is sponsored by Luggate Holdings Ltd,
developers of Luggate Village, and will show on 28 April at
8pm at Hawea Flat Hall, 30 April at 8pm at Luggate Hall and
29 April and 1 May at 3pm (sold out) at the Wanaka Masonic
Lodge. Tickets are $28 and are available by calling 0800 4
TICKET or through the festival web site at
