Last call for registrations - Bike Day Out is nearly here!

Olympic and World Champion cyclist Sarah Ulmer is set to line up against a massive field of everyday New Zealanders in the Bike Day Out coming up on Sunday 24 April 2005.

The event is held around the scenic back roads of Clevedon, and comprises six rides – two for women, a 35km ride and a 65km ride; and four for children, an 8 km ride and a 16km ride for those aged 10 and over, a grass loop and an educational obstacle course for 5 to 9 year olds.

Bike Day Out 2005 follows the success of last year’s event, which saw over a thousand women and children take part.

The World Record Holder is excited about the day: “We had so much fun at last year’s event – it’s such an awesome opportunity for Kiwis to get out there and get cycling,” says Sarah. “This year’s event will be another great day with heaps of activities for kids, mums and dads – the whole family.”

Bike Day Out has a fun, family friendly atmosphere with a celebrity MC, Ronald McDonald show and great spot prizes on the day.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the website dedicated to the event, www.bikedayout.co.nz. The site also features tips from Sarah, including a suggested training programme, safety considerations, nutrition, clothing and an on-the-day checklist.

In addition, entry forms can be picked up from most good bike stores and McDonald’s restaurants around Auckland and the Central North Island. Women’s rides are $35 and kids’ rides are $15 – with all entrants receiving a Nike backpack or goody bag.
