International success for New Zealand food writer
Bestselling New Zealand cookery writer, Annabel Langbein has been hailed as the ‘new kitchen goddess’ by Dutch media.
Influential Wining and Dining Magazine made this announcement on the front cover of their most recent issue which also included a six-page feature article about Annabel, her accessible, quick-to-prepare style of food and her career to date.
The ‘Kitchen Goddess’ label came at the end of a recent four-city tour through Amsterdam, Nyumegen, Utrecht and Rotterdam organised by Annabel’s Dutch publishers, Kosmos who bought Annabel’s book, ‘Cooking to Impress - without stress’. Kosmos have also purchased the rights to Annabel’s new book, ‘Assemble- sensational food made simple’ due in stores in October this year.
‘This is very exciting, I’m so thrilled to have broken into a new market against a lot of competition. The tour was a lot of fun’, says Annabel Langbein.
The tour included a series of cooking demonstrations, media interviews and store visits. Annabel also hosted a dinner for media, booksellers and Dutch authors in Nyumegen, presenting flavours from ‘Cooking to Impress’.
‘It is always very gratifying to see your food being cooked and enjoyed in other countries. I always wonder if ingredients will translate and if people will respond favourably to my style of cooking, but both here and in America I have had a tremendous response,’ says Annabel.
Annabel will be travelling to the US later this year where she already has three of her cookbook titles in the market.
Annabel Langbein is one of New Zealand’s most celebrated and awarded food writers and cooks. In a career spanning two decades her fresh, stylish and accessible approach to food has earned wide recognition and following. Annabel Langbein is the author of 11 bestselling cook books.
In 2004 Annabel’s last book, ‘Cooking to Impress – without stress’ was awarded Best Entertaining Book in the World at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards.
