Top Triathletes Clean Up in Uni Games Aquathon

Some of New Zealand’s most promising triathletes dominated today’s New Zealand University Games Aquathon, at Takapuna Beach, North Shore City.

Caleb Hill (AUT) was an impressive winner in the men’s section, leading from start to finish to beat team mates Jared Bowden (AUT) and Dion Jelley (AUT). Hill, New Zealand’s highest placed male junior athlete at the 2004 World Triathlon Championships beating Terenzo Bozonne, exited the 750m swim with a clear lead and held on to win over the 4km run in a total time of 27m:50s.

Eighteen year old, Anna Elvery (Auckland Tamaki) was equally impressive in winning the womens section. Elvery, one of New Zealand’s brightest young female prospects added the New Zealand University title to her list of season’s successes that will see her compete for New Zealand at the World Triathlon Championships in Japan in September this year.

Second place went to another New Zealand representative Kelly Bruce (AUT), with third to Auckland University’s Catherine Bacon.
