Local Music To Feature In The Latest Singstar Pop!
Media Release May 2005
SingStar™ Pop
Local music to feature in the latest addition of SingStar – SingStar Pop!
Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand (SCENZ) is delighted to announce the June release of SingStar™ Pop, the latest addition to the highly acclaimed SingStar franchise exclusive to Playstation®2.
The top selling SingStar series encourages players to unleash their inner popstar in an innovative game that analyses players pitch, tone and rhythm whilst singing music favourites into a microphone connected to a PlayStation 2.
SingStar Pop, is the first game in the series to incorporate Australian (Au) and New Zealand (NZ) music designed specifically for the NZ/Au market. The songlist includes tracks from NZ’s own Evermore and Bic Runga, along with Australia’s Kylie Minogue, INXS, Delta Goodrem, Savage Garden, and Missy Higgins. International artists include Black Eyed Peas, Tom Jones, Outcast and Robbie Williams to name a few (full artist / track listing below).
“We are delighted to be working with such a strong representation of the Australian and New Zealand music industry” said Warwick Light, Director of Sales and Marketing Sony Computer Entertainment New Zealand. “SingStar has been a phenomenal success in New Zealand and is an excellent new platform to profile local acts.”
Classic gameplay modes from previous SingStar games make a welcome comeback in SingStar Pop. Pass the Mic and Duets return, along with new original features such as “Rap Scoring”. Gain extra points as you battle against your crew to see who is the master of the mic, with the ultimate MC showdown! In Medley mode, short segments of five different songs are strung together, challenging would be pop stars to think fast and score high before the tune changes. In addition, SingStar Pop incorporates brand new voice filters that can be used in Playback Mode to distort and enhance players’ vocal performance.
Players will feel every bit like a star with an intense singing schedule, high competition, mic in hand, and even being on the big screen, thanks to EyeToy® technology. All you have to do is arrange the after-party!
