The Chills to play before Lions-Otago match at
Carisbrook, Dunedin.
Martin and the band are pleased to announce The Chills will be playing a special one-off set at Carisbrook Stadium on June 18.
On Saturday June 18, at 7.10 pm the Vodafone Otago NPC team is playing the British and Irish Lions.
The Chills have been asked to play as part of the pre match entertainment to celebrate the "passion and pride" of Otago people, and to celebrate Otago's contribution to the different parts of the NZ psyche and culture.
Martin Phillipps comments:
“This is the
first time we’ve played a rugby gig so we’re pulling out all
the stops and playing the best set we can and I guarantee
that means the crowd will be warmed up by The
Chills!”
Chris Green ORFU comments:
“We see music in
Dunedin as being a significant contributor to music in NZ,
and are pleased to have The Chills as part of our pre-match
entertainment at Carisbrook.”
We want to celebrate the
passion that people have for our province, and as well as
our passion for rugby we have a reputation for our passion
for music.
The Chills are an icon of the south, and as
such, we are excited to have them play for both our local
supporters and our domestic and international
visitors”
The Vodafone Otago NPC team is playing the British and Irish Lions team as part of the DHL NZ Lions Series and Otago boasts one of the best provincial records against the visiting team.
