Bats Theatre Update 29 June 2005

Kia ora BATS mates,

Four more days until the end of the Young and Hungry Festival! Even Saturday's tickets are walking out the door, proving that there are some Wellington mammals who plan to avoid the rugby...

To make sure you don't miss out - book by email: book@bats.co.nz or phone: (04) 802 4175. Please include your name, the show name/s and the date/s of the performance you would like to attend, and the number of tickets.

If you are heading into town this weekend don't forget that Courtenay Place and a couple of the side streets are no car zones from 6pm Friday until Sunday morning.

Next week at BATS: The hilarious 'Couch' directed by Sue Ott Rowlands. And Theatre Militia ('Word Virus') are back with a new devised work 'Bouncing with Billie.' More info next week or check out www.bats.co.nz

Now on:

Young and Hungry Festival 17 June 2 July (no shows Sun or Mon) The Many Faces of Kelly J Loko 6:30pm Exchange 8pm Collective Agreement 9:30pm

'The Many Faces of Kelly j Loko' by Stephen Bain (6.30pm) : 'Stephen Bain has always had a taste for the experimental and boundary pushing and here a giant animated character addresses the audience... Alisha Smith, as Kelly, is compelling... an intriguing production.' Lynn Freeman, Capital Times

'Exchange' by Lauren Jackson (8pm) : 'Under Kerryn Palmer's intuitive direction, her cast (several of them expertly juggling numerous roles) is superb - tightly knit, generous to each other on stage, committed and passionate.' Lynn Freeman, Capital Times

'Collective Agreement' by Whiti Hereaka (9.30pm) : '...a satirical play, set on a shop floor... There are some good black-humoured laughs to be had and it's certainly a reminder what a pain in the proverbial we can all be as customers.' Lynn Freeman, Capital Times

Love BATS
