Radio One Revamps Sunday Programme

Radio One Revamps Sunday Programme

Radio One is happy to announce a makeover of their Sunday programming introducing two new shows to enhance the wealth of specialist music. Indeed, Sunday will now be a bricolage of the established talent already gracing the programme plus new talent that the Radio One headhunters have gone out of their way to find. In short, Radio One is going to be funkified and weirdified.

The first of the new shows sees Sunday afternoon go funky from 2-4pm with the arrival of “Huh!,” hosted by specialists the Vanilla City Squad. These honkys are so funky you’ll need a trampoline to keep eye contact as the groove spreads into motown, soul and r’n’b. The launch of this new show has Radio One Programme Director James Gates yelping ‘it’s all about sky-rockets in flight!’

Sunday is a day of rest so what better way to relax in the evening than to the weirdness of the new “Spit in the Cracks” show from 9-11pm. Dunedin is famed for music that masquerades as the sound of the supermarket, the construction site, Elmer Fudd’s post-traumatic stress disorder on vinyl, and the next-door neigbour’s cough. Underground stars in their spare time, the Spit in the Cracks gang deliver the weirdness of the world to you on a silver platter.

Existing Sunday shows are being jiggled around to enhance the flow of your aural pleasure. The increasingly popular Americana show, the “Dustbowl Diner’ now opens for two hours at midday, the perfect time a for a truck-stop steak and eggs or crying into your cup o’ joe to the guitar twang of Gram and Gillian.

The queer show, formerly known as “Round the Bend”, has now become the “Tongue and Groove” show and kicks in at the earlier time of 8pm pm. Pamela, Keri and Patrick will indulge you in reviews, interviews and fabulous music.
